Weekly Trash and Recycle Pickup

*** See the bottom of this page for an important May 2020 announcement. ***

Our neighborhood weekly trash and recycle pickup is provided by the HOA and is contracted through Waste Management.  They can be reached at 719-632-8877 for any service questions.

Trash pickup is on Thursday mornings (on Friday mornings  after some holidays such as Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc)

Trash pickup days this month are: May 7th, 14th, and 21st, and 29th, 2020.

Recycle pickup is only every other week on Thursday (or Fridays after some holidays).

Recycle pickup days this month are:  May 7th and 21st, 2020.

Trash containers left out on any day but Thursday (and Friday on the week of Memorial Day or other specific holidays) is also prohibited.  Some leeway is given though, and you may put your trash containers on the curb the night before.  In some circumstances, you may leave them out longer if you are traveling.  Simply email the management company or the Board of Directors and let us know.  On all other days of the week, trash containers are required to be kept hidden from view of the street (in your garage or behind the gate of your backyard, for example).

ALL TRASH SHOULD BE IN SEALED BAGS that are inside your trash can (tote).  This prevents your trash tote from becoming dirty and smelly.  It also prevents trash from blowing freely around and into neighbors' yards or into the street. Five extra trash bags are allowed outside the large trash tote but again, they must be in sealed trash bags.

Recycling materials should also be enclosed in your recycling tote.  Recycling materials blowing around the neighborhood has become a real problem.  WM also does not allow trash bags in recycling bins.  All recycling materials should be free of plastic bags. Do not fill plastic bags with recycling materials in your recycling tote.  It needs to be free to pour into a separator for stream recycling.

Waste Management (WM) normally allows only 5 extra bags outside or on top of your closed trash can that is provided.

WM has seen a sharp increase in extra trash outside the normal allotted with the contracted service. This is obviously due to more people spending time at home.  WM has agreed to temporarily allow up to 10 extra bags but this will end on June 1, 2020 and the 5 bag limit will once again be enforced.

An additional $4 extra per bag may be charged after the 5 bag limit and if that happens, the HOA will be billed and may have no choice but to apply these extra fees to homeowner HOA account belonging to the home that exceeded the trash limit.

Any extra service (over the one trash can and 5 extra bags) ordered or caused to be picked up by the homeowner or renter after June 1, 2020 will be the responsibility of that homeowner.  They must pay for that extra service. This includes extra bags, any bulk curbside pickup (mattresses/furniture/BBQs/etc).

The HOA continues to pay for residents' normal trash and recycle pickup.  It is only the extra bulk trash that will not be covered.  The HOA board of directors may make once per year bulk pickup exceptions for each home, but you will need to get advanced approval through the HOA unless you pay for it yourself.

One other way the HOA Board of Directors has decided to possibly assist with the extra trash from staying at home and Spring cleaning extras, is to order a couple dumpsters (one on the north side and one on the south side) for a short period of time.  We will provide more information on that soon.
